Author’s note. To my faithful “Search for a King” readers. I know I was to do an update for you this week. They are very labor intensive and this was a very long week. I will get set to start capturing shots tonight! PLEASE forgive my broken promise.
It was my birthday and I had invited my murky garden club buddies over to celebrate with a nice birthday brunch. I did not want them toiling in the garden during their visit (this time) so I rose uncharacteristically early to get the garden all fixed up before they arrived.
I even cleaned the potty bush … blech.
After putting the water on the fire to get it hot for tea I made grilled trash fruit kabobs with a spicy maple cumin glaze for the repast … vegan friendly of course (got to keep a happy face on my Ridge). The encampment was spic and span for my visitors on this chipper occasion.
Mad Mud was early as is his norm. I think he arrives early on purpose because he is amused by seeing folks rush about frantically trying to get the last minute preps done while still trying to entertain him. I did manage 🙂
We were already sitting down to a plate of chow when the Cliff Dwellers arrived (including my dear Ridge). The camp instantly livened up with chatter and laughter.
Was not long before we were all savoring some friendly table banter along with the (if I don’t mind saying so myself) scrumptious eats. I could not have been more pleased to see my friends revel in the day … happy … relaxed
and perhaps even a tad flirty.
With everyone feeling full and content we just sat back to enjoy the remainder of day together. Morning eased its way into a lazy sunny afternoon and then culminated in the evening with all of us gathered by the camp fire. It is our favorite spot (well at least mine)!
Everyone took turns regaling us with tall tales … Ridge had us all going with his side splitting story
of being visited by 2,000 year old aliens who look just like adorable toddlers. Their most dangerous weapon looks strangely like an earth lollypop. They have the answers to all our world’s problems but they have trouble convincing humans to listen because “they are just so dang cute.”.
“So you kinda like that one a lot EH?” Glancing over at Ridge, Mad gave me a gentle elbow to to the ribs with a chuckle. I only needed a smile to answer him because he knows well how I feel.
I have grown very close to Mad and even would say that I have come to view him as my dad (my Mad Dad). OHHHH my … does does that make the mudders my brudders?
Even tho he can be quite grumpy, I am glad to have him in my life. He keeps watch over me and I rely upon him to give me great advice.
As we were saying our good nights Ridge slipped me a couple of perfect growfruits from their magnificent garden. “For your birthday,” he whispered. “I wish I had more to give y… ” I stopped him right there with a kiss. Dear boy don’t you realize that I am blessed to be rich in everything I have ever wanted. I have dear friends .. a place to belong and most of all you! In my wandering I was alone but now I am set in a family and I have no need for anything more!
When all had gone home I drank my first magic youth potion. I had gotten some of this mysterious elixir from the GF hermit during my last visit. He is a master herbalist and alchemist. He has made some amazing concoctions using an antique version of Lord Vladimir’s Magic Cauldron (you are welcome Sims 3 fans).
I confess a bit of trepidation at the thought of drinking it … BUT here we go 1 .. 2 .. 3 down the hatch.
The taste was ghastly!! A bit like a cross between rancid bone fish and raccoon “vaporous emissions” (Ok .. ok .. farts).
For the next few moments the world whirred and spun crazily .. or was that me whirling and twirling? Bright light shot from my body .. I feared for my very life .. eek
Did it work? When I came around to my senses I cannot say yes or no. I feel the same. Guess time will tell.
Momma (Precipice insists I call her that now that Ridge and I are engaged) Cliff Dweller had invited me to tea. Ridge came to pick me up and escorted me back to the imposing compound he called home. My heart beat with excitement. This was a rare honor that not many were afforded ..
I have never seen their secret gardens and I must say I am a bit apprehensive to enter the stronghold because of the widely held rumor that they are helped with horticultural experiments by aliens. I went bravely because I know my Ridge would never endanger my well-being.
Phew NO Aliens .. that is a rumor I think I can put to rest.
Momma served a delectable blackberry cobbler and lemon blossom tea (you are welcome tea fans). It was a dreamy delight. I tried hard to be all proper but speaking was difficult while stuffing ones mouth with amazing treats.
Afterwards Momma excused herself, “It was lovely to have my dear .. now I will leave you two alone.” She added with a twinkle in her eye and a wag of her finger, “But behave.”
A little alone time was sweet and it did not take long before Ridge was feeling a bit frisky! I was not sad for a little make out session myself!
All of a sudden we heard a loud hideous hissing. Rushing out to the hall we saw a horrible black plume of smoke and our noses were met with the strong smell of sulfur.
Ridge cried out “Papa” as he watched his Father slump to the floor.
A loud shriek came from the dining room. Momma also slumped to the floor. Seeing her dear hubby fall was to much for her heart to bear.
I begged Grimy please do not take Crag. “Our society needs his knowledge. His work for human survival is too important.” My pleas fell on deaf ears. Ridge and Scarp wailed loudly.
I ran into the dining room to intercept Grimy before he could reap Precipice. “Please not her too. Leave us one. Leave momma here with us. We need her … I need her.” Again he was unmoved by my petition.
Even after he had done his reaping I followed to beseech him. My pleas brought no response.
The loss has been very hard on Scarp. Not only did she lose her pappa and momma but she is now in charge of running the household. A task she feels ill prepared to do.
It is time to put Momma and Pappa in a final resting spot. Scarp is relieved to have Ridge and I take care of it. “Don’t worry Scarp. I know a perfect spot for them. They will be happy there. We will go take care of it this evening.”
RIP Crag and Precipice Cliff Dweller.
