Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge – April 2019

Lots of you have been waiting for this …  it is time to get scribbling!

Just-Write

I am very excited to be involved with this project.  There has been lots of interest.  I sincerely hope that this will help bring Simlit down from the attic (where we store all our antiques) and back out into the mainstream sims community (we have been cloistered away for too long).

I cannot wait to see what you all bring to the challenge.

✮✮✮✮✮ ❤ ✮✮✮✮✮

If you will, please allow me one personal note before we move on to business.

I am not going to tell you that winning is not awesome.

It is seriously awesome.

But winning is much more than getting top three in your category.

Winning is when scribblers (Veterans or Novice) grow their skills (both writing and screenshotting – no discount for graphics work from me.  BOTH are very important.  There are wonderful scribblers who can tell a story with ONLY screenshots.  You visit longtime scribbler’s blogs and you will find they do not discount the screenies. )

Winning is growing a community of support for ourselves AND fellow scribblers.  We are responsible for that community.

Winning is bringing Simlit to the forefront of the Sims creative community.

Yes, getting a top three is awesome BUT when Simlit wins we all do.

I will work hard at this but understand that the “job” of growing the community belongs to all of us!

If you are in this for yourself alone, then you are in the wrong place!  #nodivasplease

So how many of you tweeties saw our new logo go live yesterday?

An amazing artist,  wonderful friend, and awesome game changer created them for us.

I apologize to her in advance .. my (mis)handling will not be a professional as hers.

We will be seeing more promo coming from her later.

Rules or special considerations:

If you bring snacks – bring enough for everybody.

This is a forum based challenge.  In the spirit of that please keep your entries FAMILY FRIENDLY and safe for work.  This means NO adult mods, NO adult themes and NO language.  If you feel that language is an integral part of your story feel free to either use the word “plum” or redact it “S**T.”   Some of you may feel very restricted by this but let me remind you that this will go out across all social media platforms and we cannot control who might see it when.

This is an international competition and some will be writing in their second language so BE KIND!

You can write as many short stories as you wish but only one can be entered for the challenge vote.

A worthy repeat from the first blog:

  • Participants ARE ALLOWED – even encouraged to let their readers know that they are participating in the challenge …  growing our skills AND our community IS the POINT of all of this.
  • BUT here is the caveat, their readers MUST read all entries and vote in accordance with instructions.  This instruction must be CLEARLY stated by the participant when their readers are informed.
  • Readers will be asked to vote for their top 3 choices in both categories (6 votes total).
  • Any vote received that does not contain 3 votes for each category will be thrown out.
  • I assure you that I will diligently watch this. NO ONE will be unfairly targeted, bullied or shunned.

  1. I want to do this! To be honest it’s reminding me sort of Camp NaNoWriMo. It started in April…anyway, if you could please message me the details of how this works and what I need to do, I’d appreciate very much. Thank you in advance!

      1. Thank you! Oh my gosh…I found The Cross Family save file! Problem…I deleted the WordPress to it! I see this as a oppurtunity though..to be honest. I will just inform readers of the reason why of the absence, it will be good.

    1. Yes it prob feels like that but this has been around since 2015 .. I am just assuming the lead on it … April is the poetry focus … Na/GloPoWriMo and November the Nanowrimo for novels .. I always say I am doing that but I never have my stuff together (5K words a day for 3o days is daunting)
